Terms & Conditions, Liability Waiver, and Communications Consent

Version 2026-06-22. By creating an account, you confirm you have read, understood, and agreed to every provision below. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the Service.

1. Eligibility & Age Verification

The Service is restricted to users who are 18 years of age or older, or 16–17 years old with the verifiable permission of a parent or legal guardian. By registering, you represent and warrant that (a) you meet this age requirement, (b) the date of birth you provide is true, and (c) if you are 16 or 17, your parent or legal guardian has reviewed these Terms and consented to your use of the Service. We may suspend or terminate any account that does not meet these requirements. Users under 16 are strictly prohibited.

2. Acknowledgement of Risk — Meeting Other Users

You acknowledge and agree that MentorMe is an introduction platform. Other users are strangers. MentorMe does not perform criminal background checks, identity verification beyond email confirmation, or ongoing monitoring of users. You assume full and sole responsibilityfor evaluating, communicating with, and meeting any other user, whether online, by phone, by video call, or in person.

You expressly acknowledge that:

  • Interactions with other users carry risk, including risk of physical harm, harassment, fraud, financial loss, emotional distress, defamation, and exposure to illegal conduct.
  • You will exercise your own independent judgment before meeting any user in person, and will take reasonable safety precautions (e.g. meeting in public places, informing a trusted contact, verifying identity).
  • MentorMe is not a party to, and has no responsibility for, any agreement, transaction, mentorship, advice, investment, employment, or relationship that arises between users.

3. Release, Waiver of Liability, and Indemnity

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you, on behalf of yourself and your heirs, executors, administrators, successors, and assigns, hereby irrevocably release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sueMentorMe, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, and licensors (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of action, damages (including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, exemplary, and punitive), losses, costs, and expenses (including attorneys' fees), whether known or unknown, arising out of or relating to:

  • your access to or use of the Service;
  • any interaction, communication, meeting, or transaction with any other user;
  • any content posted by users or third parties;
  • any advice, mentorship, introduction, or business opportunity received through the Service;
  • any personal injury, death, property damage, theft, or emotional distress, however caused.

You further agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any third-party claim arising out of your conduct, content, breach of these Terms, or violation of any law or third-party right.

4. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including without limitation any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, availability, security, or that any user is safe, trustworthy, or qualified. MentorMe does not endorse any user and makes no representation as to any user's identity, character, background, or qualifications.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Released Parties' total aggregate liability to you for any and all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid to MentorMe in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD $100. In no event shall the Released Parties be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

6. No Professional Advice

Content and communications on the Service, including mentor commentary, are for general informational purposes only and do not constitute legal, financial, tax, medical, psychological, or other professional advice. You should seek independent professional advice before acting on anything you encounter on the Service.

7. User Conduct

You agree not to: harass, threaten, defraud, or harm any user; impersonate any person; collect personal data of other users without consent; post unlawful, defamatory, or sexually exploitative content; or use the Service in violation of any law. We may suspend or terminate your account at our sole discretion.

8. Information We Collect & How We Use It

To operate the Service we collect: your name, email address, phone number, home address, gender, and date of birth, along with profile content you provide. We use this information to (a) operate, secure, and improve the Service; (b) verify eligibility and prevent fraud; (c) facilitate introductions; (d) process payments; and (e) communicate with you about your account.

9. Marketing Communications (Separate Consent)

We will only send you newsletters, product updates, surveys, event invitations, partner offers, and other marketing messages if you provide a separate, affirmative opt-in during signup or in your account settings. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any marketing email or by updating your preferences. Withdrawal does not affect transactional account messages (e.g. receipts, security alerts).

10. Email Verification

You must confirm your email address before full access is granted. We may suspend access for accounts that fail to verify or where the email becomes undeliverable.

11. Payments & Subscriptions

Subscription fees, billing cycle, renewal, and refund policy are described at checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings.

13. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at MentorMe's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation; failing resolution within thirty (30) days, the dispute shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration, and you waive any right to participate in a class action, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

14. Severability & Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and MentorMe regarding the Service.

15. Changes

We may update these Terms. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. The current version identifier appears at the top of this page.

By checking the acceptance box at signup, you confirm you have read and agree to these Terms, the Liability Waiver, and the Safety Acknowledgement above, and you attest that you (and, if applicable, your parent/guardian) meet the age and consent requirements.
